The Lüderitz Peninsula is known for its high plant diversity and is part of the Succulent Karoo biodiversity hotspot. As part of the Sperrgebiet it is an Important Plant Area, possessing exceptional botanical richness and/or outstanding rare, threatened and/or endemic species, and/or vegetation of high botanic value.
A scenic tour through the *Lüderitzbucht Peninsula* crossing dry, arid semi-desert landscape to reach the rocky Atlantic coastline. On the way you will take in the oxygen-rich air at *Grossebucht* (Big Bay) and perhaps a photo in front of the eroding ship wreck, the Irmgard. From here we journey to the famous Dias Point where you can watch the seals basking in the sun, catch a glimpse of African Penguins on Halifax Island and perhaps some Heaviside Dolphins in the bay. At Dias Point, where Bartholomeu Dias erected a Padrão (Cross) in 1488, we take a cup of coffee in the little restaurant. From here we head back to the hotel.
